Hixson is one of Chattanooga's most established and sought-after suburban communities — well-maintained neighborhoods, quality schools, and a level of pride in vehicles that consistently translates into some of the best-maintained cars we see come through our shop. But Hixson's geography creates a paint protection problem that no amount of careful ownership can solve on its own. Highway 153 and Hixson Pike are two of the most rock chip-intensive surface corridors in Hamilton County north of the city.

Highway 153 is not a quiet suburb road — it's a high-speed connector that serves as the primary route between Hixson and the I-75 industrial and commercial zones south of town. The volume of landscaping, construction, and commercial delivery traffic on 153 is consistently high, and the chip-seal sections between the Hixson Pike interchange and Amnicola Highway are particularly aggressive debris generators. Hixson vehicles that use 153 as their primary commute route accumulate front-end chip damage within months on a new vehicle.

Hixson Pike itself, particularly the stretch north of Highway 153 toward Soddy Daisy, runs through a mix of open commercial and transitional road surfaces that throw material at highway approach speeds. Middle Valley Road adds another debris-heavy corridor for northern Hixson residents. Ceramic window tint is equally relevant here — Hixson's positioning on the northern plateau means extended sun exposure throughout the year, and the Tennessee Valley summer heat hits uncovered vehicles in Hixson surface parking just as hard as anywhere else in the metro.
